Attention, suckers: Verizon Wireless will soon offer a Gateway LT2016u netbook with the carrier’s Mobile Broadband service built into the device. The Gateway mini-note costs $150 after a $100 mail-in rebate, and the deal requires a 2-year 3G contract. The plan is available starting Oct. 4.

Sony Unveils M Series Netbook
Sony has embraced the netbook segment by releasing a £300 model as part of the M-series in the VAIO range, one which had leaked out a couple of weeks ago. The device comes with a 10.1-inch LED backlit display (1024×600), 1GB RAM and a 250GB hard disk drive while powered by an Intel Atom N450 Pineview processor clocked at 1.66Ghz.

LG Electronics is entering the U.S. netbook market and it is teaming with AT&T to offer customers a subsidized mini-laptop that has integrated 3G access. The LG X120 has relatively standard specifications for a device of its class including a 10.1-inch screen, 1 GB of RAM, 160-GB hard drive, high-definition stereo speakers, Wi-Fi, and a 3G modem to access AT&T’s 3G network on the go. The netbook is powered by Windows XP, and it also comes with a SmartOn interface that gives users one-click access to specified applications.
